Everyone has a habitat, or an environment that they live in, and a niche, or role that they play in that environment. For example a gray squirrel’s habitat is in the forest or woods where there are a lot of trees. The niche that a grey squirrels has is to collect nuts year round to stock up for winter.
My habitat is my room, and it is usually kept fairly clean. In my habitat there are blue floors, all oak walls, a lot of furniture, and a big window to look out. Sometimes it’s even hard to walk around my habitat, because there is so much furniture, including a bed, two bookshelves, a desk, a dresser, and my closet. I also have to share my habitat with 8 other members of my family. I share my habitat with my mom, dad, two German Shepherds (Shadow and Raven), and four cats (Storm, Smokey, Misty, and Mystery.)
I also have my niche or role that I play within my habitat that I need to tell you about. My niche is doing mostly housework such as vacuuming, steaming the floors, and doing the dishes. I am also responsible for feeding and watering all my pets, and completing my homework. You could compare my mom’s niche to my niche, and find that they are very similar. Being a housewife, my mom also has housework that she needs to finish, such as laundry, dusting, cooking, and cleaning. This makes our niches very similar, because they are both made up of mostly housework. You could compare my dad’s niche to my niche, and see that they are very different. My dad’s niche is to go to work everyday, where he is a mechanic, and provide money for the family. If there is anything broken around the house, or something wrong with the car or truck, then it is his job to fix those problems as well. This makes my niche very different from his, as I mainly just do things around the house.
I can also see my habitat and niche changing in the future, because I don’t want to do the same thing everyday for the rest of my life. In the future I believe my habitat will change two different times. The first time I believe my habitat will change is when I go off to college, for engineering, and have to stay in a dorm room. From there I can see my habitat changing to a house that I can call my own. As for my niche, I can see it changing twice, along with my habitats. When I go to college, my niche will change to making sure my dorm is clean, and completing all of my assignments on time. I will also probably have to start checking my money so I can afford college. When I buy my own house, I can see my niche changing to doing all the housework (vacuuming, doing dishes, laundry, cooking, dusting, and cleaning), and if I have any pets feeding and watering them. I will also have to mow the lawn, weed eat, and keep track of my checks, bills, and taxes.
